Why do dbz fighter like gotenks and vegito toy around with their opponent. Either they think that they are stronger but are weaker like gotenks. Why don't they go to a powerful form and start the real thing. I dislike how some characters are so cocky. Are they overpowered and that gets to their hrad. It is fine what they do, but the one who toys gets things in their head. Shouldn't their only be vegeta who does this and villians but no one else, exceptfor trunks. |

Vegetto has elements of Vegeta in his personality, as does Trunks. So that explains why they have that cocky streak. I think their actions are supposed to elicit this type of reaction. It's evidence of good writing: the frustration at cocky characters shows that you're emotionally invested in the story. It also keeps things interesting. If every fight ended with the strongest fighter winning it would be boring. The excitement comes from switching things up and adding variables, cockiness being a way to do this, among many others. |

Vegetto was cocky for a reason. He wanted Gohan-Buu to get mad, so he'd absorb them. The others toy around, I guess because they want the villain to suffer, maybe? Edited by Stark., Jan 20 2014, 04:53 PM.

Welp , we have a quick-job finisher like Trunks who don't mess around. But sometimes it isn't about toying around , its more that the enemy who caused so many problems and destroyed lives has to get humiliated bad as well as and die slowly in pain. |

Gohan specifically stated that he wanted Cell to suffer, and it completely backfired and bit him in the a**. Goku knew Cell was a loose canon and would attempt something desperate. And you are completely right about Vegetto wanting to make Boo mad so he'd get absorbed. |

Gotenks case was because of the mix of both Goten and Trunks personalities into the fusion form, at least that's what I saw I Daizenshuu.
And for Vegitos case:

For vegetto he wants to get absorbed so he can save his friends. For the others, they like to torture the villains for what they did. |

Wait, having cockiness switches the battle up? And it changes the outcome of the battle? |

Vegeto is understandable, but why gotenks. Gotenks was kind of dumb in his base, and he kept showing cockiness just because he was playing a game. He should have gotten serious by fighting from ssj1, not base |

As previously stated Vegito held back on purpose. However Gotenks doing that was purely for gags (since AT wanted to go back to comedey) as well as a satire of all of the previous battles the Z-fighters fought IMO. |

Yeah it does. It adds an extra element to the battle other than plain fighting. Using the Cell fight as an example, Gohan could have destroyed Cell early. His cockiness resulted in him toying with Cell, and that led to Goku dying. I'd say that's switching things up. Edited by Mitas, Jan 20 2014, 10:09 PM.

I'd like to point out that it was mostly kids who messed up while being cocky. Gohan was only a nine year old boy. Gotenks was what, 7.5? It just seems like they weren't mature enough to handle the immense amount of power they received, and they went about it in the wrong way. |

Vegeta's cockiness, however, is where the s*** really hits the fan. It's innumerable how many times he screws up 1- vs. Goku. Could've just ended it sooner than he did, rather than show off how much more powerful he was (supposed to be). 2- Zarbon. Let's him transform, then gets owned. Luckily, he overcomes him. 3- Frieza. Let's him transform, despite being able to possibly go toe-to-toe with him in his first form; if he had simply not played around, the whole saga would've progressed differently. 4- The Androids. Somewhat justified when he decimates Android 19, and Android 20 proves too weak for even Piccolo, but underestimates Android 18 and would've gotten his a*** shoved back up his a*** if Android 17 entered the fray. 5- Cell. Let's him transform (notice a trend here?!) just for a better battle. He was just kicking Cell around. Every time Cell whined about becoming perfect, he didn't shoot a ki blast through his chest, or slammed his fist through his brain. He just knocked him about. Then, for the thrill of fighting a stronger opponent (a trait you would seriously think, because of Vegeta's mishaps, would be tossed out of the Saiyan evolutionary bin), he even fights his own son to prevent him from stopping Cell's transformation. I mean, wow. It's lucky he learned his lesson; I bet that kick from Cell that launched him through, what, 10 mountains? Yeah, I bet that knocked some sense into him since he didn't seem that thrilled about letting Boo live to possibly transform. |
So....His shoes are Super Saiyan 4? Here's the the glorious position of being part of DBZ forums' prestiged Member #OVER 9000 club. | |
